Tea Dreams I & II

Here are my two latest creations.  I did these the old fashioned way, with paper and scissors.  It took me forever!  I thought my hand would cramp up from all the little cuts and holding the scissors so tightly.
Last time I was in China, I visited a shop that specialized in paper cutting silhouettes and by watching the "seifu" (master), I learned a lot about how it was done.  So using these traditional "Chinese" techniques I created these two new silhouettes.  I wanted to keep a slight asian feel to the design, so I used both cherry blossoms and roses (both traditional motifs), along with song birds on one and butterflies on another.  The teapots are of course, western style.
Since I am so obsessed with drinking tea, and everything else about it, I decided to revisit this theme in my art again.  The original tea silhouettes ( Tea Silhouettes ) are very popular on my Etsy site, so it seemed like a good time to expand the motif as well.

Here's the first one.  These are traditional cherry blossom silhouettes.

Here's the second one.  I had fun hiding all the butterflies in the silhouette.  Can you find them all?  There are 5.

Both are for sale on my Etsy site now as prints on 8.5"x 11" paper ( Tea Dreams I ).  They look gorgeous!  I am thinking of making greeting cards out of them.  What do you think?
